summer means sundress!

Your Guide to Stunning Sundresses this Summer

Picture this: a bright summer morning, a picnic basket, and a gorgeous sundress. Summer in all its glory.

What is that one thing about summers that makes it all the more magnificent? Why, SUNDRESSES ofcourse! The epitome of summer charm and effortless elegance, they effortlessly blend style with comfort. A sundress is summer's sultry friend.

Why are sundresses wildly popular? I assume its the gorgeous fit that exudes a soft feminine look. It hugs the body but also has a flare, an airy fabric that flows with that sweet summer breeze. My favourite thing to wear to a summer brunch is definitely a cute little sundress. But of course, a sundress is SUPER versatile. You can wear it to run errands, to a date, to a wedding even!

Summer is made for dresses, as us fashionistas say! Summer fashion includes a plethora of dresses, all kinds super fun to style. Sundresses in particular give off a romantic, flirtatious vibe. Maybe that's why men love them too! With their flowing silhouettes and vibrant patterns, sundresses evoke a sense of carefree femininity, perfect for leisurely strolls along the beach or brunching with friends under the sun.

The best part about sundresses? The multiple styles they come in! Strapless, thin straps, puff sleeves, mini, midi, maxi ?! All combinations you can imagine! In essence, sundresses are more than just clothing; they're a symbol of summer itself—a reminder to slow down, savor the moment, and embrace the beauty of the season in all its sun-kissed glory.

I have picked out a few sundresses, keeping in mind the varied preferences, budgets and unique tastes of my fabulous readers! Do stick around till the end, I promise it'll be worth it. I hope you enjoy.

Balia Midi by Reformation

A classic, gorgeous, super-feminine, floral sundress.

What I love about Reformation as a brand is their unwavering loyalty towards wardrobe staples. A floral sundress made from a linen (or such) fabric is an absolute no-brainer and a MUST have in every wardrobe! The beautiful shade of pink makes the dress stand out from a more common white linen dress. The corset fit on the torso makes the dress ever so attractive. The classic gathered neckline with a cute little bow makes it the perfect sundress.

One catch though — I wouldn't recommend this length for my petite girlies. Don't worry, I've got another dress in mind for you! You'll find my love for Reformation sprinkled throughout this post.

I don't think I need to expend more words in appreciation of this dress! Screams class. Sexy, in the most modest way possible. If you're looking to add a first sundress to your wardrobe, let it be this one.

Sheri Mini by Reformation

The promised present for my petite goddesses!

The shorter length is a godsend for petite sizes, and looks super cute for everyone! The gorgeous lace detailing on the neck is absolutely stunning as well. And the print, oh my god, the print. Probably my favourite from all the sundresses I've browsed today. And that's a LOT of sundresses.

Another Reformation dress, this is also made in a soothing linen fabric. Although this does not have the corset torso, it is still pretty snug on your torso, giving you that extra sexy look.

If you're looking for an edgier, more modern sundress, this is the one!

Ruched Bust Mini by ASOS

A super affordable, sunshine-struck, dazzling sundress.

Yes, the 'dazzling' reference comes from Taylor Swift's new song. Don't come at me.

This dress reminds me of gelato. Of delicious, yummy mango gelato. And what else do we want from our summers if not sunshine soaked gelato goodness?

This dress from ASOS is a super affordable option. While not a traditional sundress, it sure is inspired from the sundress silhoutte. This is also something you can throw over your swimsuit at the beach. Definitely a more modern fit, with its shorter length and ruched top. I love the little bow detail on the back, but you can style it any way you like!

Floret Midi by Petal & Pup

An affordable classic style sundress!

Yes, of course I found one which is affordable as well as a classic style sundress. This one comes with tie-up straps, which is so cute! The print is a gorgeous lavender floral, a very safe choice. The fabric is super flowy and the top is ruched, giving the sundress an elegant yet sexy vibe.

The length is also interesting, it is almost a maxi length. A perfect picnic date dress. Super feminine yet easy to wear, it's hard to go wrong with this one.

If you're looking for a gorgeous sundress on a budget, I'd pick this one. Best of both worlds!

Tagliatelle Midi by Reformation

Heroine in a Shakespeare tragedy?

This dress is a combination of the first two Reformation dresses I mentioned. Longer in length like the first one, with the top half like the second. I loooved the pure white variant. Such a delicate, virginal look. The lace on the neck adds SO much.

I also liked a printed version of this dress, a good old floral linen. It is quite reasonable to thing that a pure white sundress might be boring, I'm with you. But print or not, this is a gorgeous sundress. It has the fit and flare of a classic sundress, with a more modern neckline, giving more of an oomph.

If you're looking for length and lace, this is the one!

Ariella Midi by Banana Republic

Vacation in Venice much?

This dress is giving effortless chic on an European holiday. I love the minimal look of it, looks very high-end. A minimal dress also makes for a versatile dress — you can dress it up or dress it down, any way you want to.

I love the summer appropriate colour, as well as the fabric choice. A dress like this will hold itself in place, and maintain its voluminous silhoutte in a fabric like this. I also love the black variant, although that isn't as summer like.

Not much more is needed to be said about this dress — a wardrobe staple, if I may!

Rose Midi by Petal & Pup

Another classic sundress on a budget!

I was delighted to find this one, a gorgeous, edgy, but delicate and floral sundress — that too on a budget. The tie-up straps add a fun element to the dress, and the cutout in the front add a bold element to it. I love having a cooler floral print in my summer wardrobe, it is easier on the eyes and perfect for a hot day.

One issue could be its fabric, its not made in any of our favourites - cotton or linen. Do keep in mind that this is a really inexpensive dress. The fabric is not going to be a major issue unless you end up in a South-East Asian country for the summer, then too it might just be bearable.

Overall, a very pretty dress at a great price.

Square Neck Tie Back Mini by ASOS

A modern little number!

Here I come again with an affordable dollop of summer goodness! This is such a modern fit, with its gorgeous bow in the back. I love how young and fresh this looks. A great option for a hot summer holiday, this would definitely be great for a South-East Asian summer!

This dress from ASOS comes at a super affordable price, and is made in linen. The fabric is probably going to be a thinner, more lightweight linen, as compared to the linen of our significantly more expensive Reformation dresses. This dress also makes for a great overthrow for the beach/pool.

Of course, this does not adhere to the sundress silhoute any more than the mango gelato ASOS dress did. However, I did want to include some less serious, younger looking options. Hence.

A modern, beautiful dress.

Off-the-Shoulder Maxi by AQUA

A pastel yellow strapless wonder of a dress.

Okay, this might be my favourite affordable option from this lot. What a gorgeous dress. The colour screams summer and the pastel yellow would flatter SO many skin tones. I adore the strapless style of it, coupled with the maxi length, the dress looks so elegant.

This is definitely inspired by a sundress, with its fitted top and flowy bottom. The belt detail also takes me back to 60s fashion and boy, do I love it. Albeit an ill-fitting addition to this collection, I could not help myself from recommeding this. A great option for a fancy meal on vacation!

The sleeves are the perfect sleeves this dress could possibly have had! And the bow detailing at the back, I have no words. I am awestruck by this dress. And the price??? You've got to be kidding me.

You could wear this to a daytime ball and look the part. I am not joking. This is a marvel, in my books. Soft feminity at its peak.

AAAAA. GET. THIS. NOW.

Monette Maxi by Reformation

A modern masterpiece of a sundress.

Reformation, here we go again. They should start paying me at this point.

I adore this dress, with its beautiful floral print and modern design. The fit exudes youth and delicacy. The fabric is none other than my favourite, linen. The maxi length makes the dress stand out, and I love how the floral print is not scattered. Adds a fresh touch to a usual "floral sundress", don't you think?

The fitted top makes the dress look very flattering, and the voluminous flare adds to that hourglass illusion. Coupled with the dainty straps, this dress is a win-win. It will make you look slimmer, curvier and more youthful (not that those are any metrics of beauty).

An absolute no-brainer.

I had a lot of fun with this blogpost, and I took my time with this collection. I hope you enjoyed reading it, and that you found something for yourself (if you were looking to buy). I would love it if you wrote to me to discuss anything at all, or if you bought something I recommended and looked cute. Till next time!

xoxo,
